A Blessing for 523 Remington
Our first hosted event at The Art of Becoming included an intimate group of souls who had supported our journey, vision, mountains, and valleys in creating this space for our Fort Collins community. One of the elements of that event was to speak a blessing over the space. By offering the spoken word into our midst, into the walls of the space, and as witnessed by the souls present, we expressed hope, desire, and intention for what this space might offer our community in the coming weeks, months, and years. This is a blessing for 523 Remington and The Art of Becoming, which was adapted from a poem by John O’Donohue, “Blessing for A New Home,” with modifications for our purposes.
A Blessing for 523 Remington
May this house shelter your story.
When you enter,
May all the weight of the world
Fall from your shoulders.
May your heart be tranquil here,
Blessed by peace the world cannot give.
May these rooms be a warm embrace,
Where the kindness your spirit desires
Always finds the pathway to your very soul.
May nothing destructive
Ever cross this threshold.
May this be a safe place
Full of understanding and acceptance,
Where you can be as you are,
Without the need of any mask
Of pretense or image.
May this house be a place of discovery and clarity,
Where the possibilities that sleep
In the clay of your soul can emerge
To deepen and refine your vision
For all that is yet to come to birth.
May it be a place of courage.
Where healing and growth are loved,
Where dignity and belonging prevail.
A space where patience of the spirit is prized,
And the sight of the destination is never lost
Though the journey may be difficult and slow.
May there be great delight within these walls.
May it be a house of welcome
For the broken and disenchanted.
May these walls witness the ripples of healing
And souls come to life
as each shares its light with another.
And may no guest leave without a blessing.
